More Information about Inheritance Tax Planning

“Inheritance tax is a voluntary Levy paid by those who distrust their heirs more than they dislike the Inland Revenue”

Former Ex-chancellor of the Exchequer Roy Jenkins 1986

What is Inheritance Tax Planning?

In its technical form, Inheritance Tax is the only UK tax which is classed as voluntary, Although this does not mean that you can volunteer not to pay it though! What it does mean is that it is not a compulsory tax, and can therefore be planned for to reduce or negate its effects on your estate.

We all have a “Nil Rate Band” for inheritance Tax, but do we know how much it is? How we can best use it? Wonder whether the Main residence Nil Rate Band should be utilised or not? What is the tax rate? How much tax would my estate be liable for?

Inheritance Tax is a very specialised subject and an area that we have been working in for over 25 years, and you should always work with someone who has a vast knowledge in this specialist area.
